Katie started her career in golf 13 years ago when she learned to play the wonderful game of golf at the age of 30. Having never played the game Katie quit her solid career as a Special Education teacher, left her home town of Rye, NY moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to pursue her career as a professional golfer. After two years of dedication and hard work Katie turned pro and began her playing career on the LPGA Futures Professional Golf Tour. After a successful playing career Katie still had a thirst for teaching and seized the opportunity to exploit her teaching skills through golf. Being that she taught herself to play golf she feels strongly, "it is never too late to be great at golf!"
Junior golf has been a particular interest for Katie. She was recruited by Charlie Lanzetta, PGA of Americas 2001 Junior Golf Leader of the year, as the Rockland Junior Golf Coordinator in the South Shore of Boston. The program hosted 800 students and was selected by the PGA of America as one of the top junior programs in the USA.
Katie's unique start in golf and overcoming incredible obstacles as a player has recognized her as a motivational speaker where she has been a guest speaker at several venues including The Classic Swing Golf School, voted "Best Golf School in Myrtle Beach" and "One of Golf Magazines Top 25 Golf Schools in America."
Katie loves to teach and guarantees improvement. Katie has worked with Craig Shankland one of Golf Digest Americas 50 Greatest Teachers. A few of Katie's notable students are Hugh Evans, NBA Referee for 28 seasons; Sam Jones "Mr. Clutch" of the Boston Celtics; Irv Eatman, NFL Offensive Tackle; Bill "Whipper" Swan, CFL Wide Receiver; Rick McArdle, Minnesota State Seniors Champion; Tony Morosco, PGA of America's 2001 Golf professional of the Year; Actor Joseph O'Keefe, Law & Order Criminal Intent and singer and performer Larry Chance of "Larry Chance and the Earls".
Katie's approach to the game is fun, easy and exciting! Her experience as a special education teacher and golf professional uniquely qualifies her to teach all those interested in improving their game of golf, Juniors, seniors, professionals and the mentally and physically challenged.
